Wilcon Depot, the country’s leading home improvement and building store, kicks off its COVID-19 vaccination program among its workforce as part of its initiative to protect the health of its employees and customers.
A short opening ceremony last July 27, 2021 was graced by Wilcon Depot President and CEO Lorraine Belo-Cincochan, who also received her first dose of the vaccine; and Wilcon SEVP-COO Rosemarie Bosch-Ong who welcomed and thanked the employees and medical professionals present during the kick-off, “It is a brave decision to choose to be vaccinated. Let us make the Wilcon community safe and COVID-19 free. There is no other way for us to move forward from this pandemic unless we get vaccinated. We will be one step closer to recovery and make our country safe again.”
The first leg of the vaccination program was held in Wilcon Depot Balintawak. A total of 2,754 employees, along with their dependents, got their first shot of COVID-19 vaccine from July 27 to August 1, 2021. Wilcon Depot also secured its locations in Olongapo, Zambales; General Santos City; Iguig, Cagayan; and Opol, Misamis Oriental, among others to handle the rollout of the vaccination.
Wilcon acquired doses of AstraZeneca vaccines catering to over 6,000 employees nationwide, as well as their dependents. The company’s vaccination program is in line with the government’s goal to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.
The vaccination program was also in support and partnership with Go Negosyo’s “Angat Lahat: A Dose of Hope” campaign led by Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion that aims economic recovery. Wilcon has partnered with the NGO in extending assistance to local communities since the pandemic began in providing testing kits and in-kind goods, among others.
